HistoryThe Growing Years is inspired by the successful Appletree Christian Learning Centers based in west Michigan. The Tubbs family opened the first Appletree center in 1998. Doug and Bridgett Tubbs felt that having their own child attend the center allowed them to continually monitor the curriculum and programs. This hands-on approach turned out to be highly advantageous and a definite plus in the eyes of parents. From then on, Doug and Bridgett decided any and all Appletree centers would be owner-operated. Now 11 strong, Appletree, the Tubbs family, and their philosophy has given rise to the national family of centers of The Growing Years.
