Jobing Description
POSITION SUMMARY
To assist the health care and administrative team of the medical office, provide optimum health care to patients and prepare them appropriately for the examination with the provider.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Obtain baseline health history, vital signs, give injections, collect laboratory specimens and assist in any procedures necessary.
Interpret and translate to assist patients as needed.
Accurately document all patient information on all appropriate records.
Administer proper medications to patients as ordered by physician.
Return patient telephone calls in a timely manner.
Complete all clinical tasks in a safe manner in accordance and within WHSI policy and procedure.
Responsible for making sure exam rooms are stocked.
Maintain a courteous and attentive attitude when interacting with patients, families and co-workers.
Accurately organize medical record according to WHSI policies and procedures.
Understands and participates in Health Care Plan, chronic care collaboratives and other performance activities.
Working knowledge of telephone system and telephone protocol.
Work with the Clinical Services Department to promote ongoing performance improvement activities.
Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
Perform other duties as assigned or become necessary by supervisor.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • High school or equivalent. Medical Assistant program required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years related experience as a medical assistant.
• Must be fluent in English and Spanish- written and verbal communications.
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Performance Management Systems.
• Excellent work history with proven track record.
• Excellent data entry skills—accuracy is very important.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
• Professional, clean, neat appearance.
• No convictions of serious crimes or felonies.
• Must be willing to travel to other medical sites within Wake Health Services, Inc., to assist other facilities.
