  • The Position

    The Director, Network Engineering serves as a hands-on member of the Arch Technology Services (ATS) engineering team, supporting the development and deployment of network system architectures and IT-based infrastructure systems within the ATS global infrastructure platform. The Director, Network Engineering will manage the Network Build Team and implement and maintain the goals and policies required by the Organization. The ideal candidate should have the ability to design, configure, and deploy enterprise network infrastructure, which will support the applications and systems of all of the company's business units in addition to providing and implementing network security best practices using a combination of technologies such as VPNs/encryption, firewalls, secure proxies, IDS/IPS, and secure network design methodology. Travel up to 10% may be required for assignments at remote company locations.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Design and implement network architectures to provide highly available network services
    • Provide final escalation support and guidance to all levels of support escalations teams and engineers
    • Design and configure Network equipment such as PAN/Checkpoint/ASA, Firewalls, Cisco Routers, Switches, ACI, UCS, SD-WAN, Azure, VPNs, application load balancers, secure proxies, quality of service designs, and multicast audio over IP networks
    • Translate technical requirements into functional designs and engineer solutions for existing and developmental workflows
    • Analyze network/infrastructure design and customer requirement performance standards to determine project specifications
    • Conduct tests assuring safe and satisfactory product performance
    • Write and maintain technical documentation in reference to equipment installation and operation
    • Design, install, and deliver complex configurations within deadlines
    • Provide tier 3 support for all production Internet networks
    • Communicate activities, issues, and progress to management/customers in an adequate, concise, and timely manner
    • Lead multiple projects in various phases of development and attend related vendor meetings to track development paths
    • Manage the activities of staff, ensuring short/long term timelines are met
    • Develop and mentor staff to ensure personal and professional growth

    Desired Skills/Experience

    • Microsoft Project and Visio experience
    • Thorough knowledge of LAN and WAN networks from layer 2 upward
    • Experience with systems documentation and operational procedures
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels
    • Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles

    Required Skills/Experience

    • 10+ years’ of experience planning, designing, implementing, and supporting multi-vendor, multi-platform enterprise networks ideally in a 24/7 customer facing enterprise
    • Expert knowledge of the following protocols and technologies: IP routing protocols, router redundancy protocols including HSRP/VRRP/MLAG, Ethernet protocols including spanning tree and rapid spanning tree 802.1W, access control, network address translation, quality of service and policy based routing
    • Knowledge with firewalls/ACL/encryption/VPN technology - Cisco ASA, PAN, Checkpoint and associated protocols (IPSEC/GRE) and secure proxy functions
    • Fully versed in common Internet services such as DNS, SSL, HTTP
    • SNMP, NTP, TACAS, Syslog and other critical network management/administration protocols
    • Experience provisioning and troubleshooting Ethernet, MPLS and other WAN technologies
    • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Proficient in project management practices and standards


    • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent, relevant experience
      • Master's degree in IT or engineering, preferred
    • IP networking certification required
      • CCIE in Routing & Switching and ITIL Certification, preferred
    • Certification or formal training in project management processes such as Six Sigma, CAPM, or PMP
