Job Description

The IT Manager is tasked with IT Administration and Restaurant Technology Support Functions and is responsible for ensuring that the Outcomes and Core Accountabilities as listed below are achieved in a fiscally responsible manner while adhering to the Promise and Values of Dine Brands.

The IT Manager is accountable for ensuring the following Outcomes of the Organization:

  • Ensures the IT Specialist has the resources necessary to ensure all technology core activities are supported and maintained with a minimum of service interruptions, in a fiscally responsible manner. This includes: 
    • Restaurant Technology – The Point of Sale Network, Food and Labor Management System, Presto (Table Top Solution), etc…
    • Communications – Phones, Internet, and WiFi
    • Corporate IT
    • Menu & Software Processes
    • Compliance (PCI)
    • Project Management & Support
  • Manages resources including timelines, costs, personnel, and vendors
  • Maintains relationships with franchisees to support shared learning and growth
  • Provides oversight to the vendor relationships managed by the IT Specialist
  • Provides project management leadership to larger projects including building budgets and timelines for the implementation of new technology.
  • Seeks out opportunities to build and expand our knowledge base, optimize processes, and look for new opportunities with both current and new vendors

Corporate IT:

  • Provides overall direction for the IT infrastructure, hardware for personnel, and software (i.e., Computers/Tablets, Email, Software, Servers, Network Infrastructure, etc…) for the Operations Leadership Team and Restaurant Support Center Team
  • Provides System Administration support in partnership with the IT Specialist
  • Provides technical leadership and administration for our intranet site (AppleLink)
  • Provides project leadership for initiatives related to the corporate infrastructure and IT solutions

Menu & Software Process:

  • Provides backup support of pricing decision making and menu selections
  • Provides support for the restaurant teams related to POS Menus in support of campaign updates and Marketing initiatives for both the POS menus and external menu sources (online ordering, delivery services, etc.)
  • Maintains menu masters which includes the addition, deletion, and modification of menu items
  • Acts as a knowledge broker for menu, discount, and promotional initiatives
  • Manages our Menu Master website for external menu sources (online ordering, delivery services, etc.)
  • Downloads menus to restaurants

Project Management:

  • Provides project management including partnering with the Operations teams, Restaurants Support Center team members, and selected/contracted vendor in support of Technology initiatives
  • Provides ad hoc project management for other initiatives as needed
  • Act as a technology knowledge broker to support initiatives for other departments

Purchasing Management:

Purchase Management encompasses the Service Vendors for Applebee’s Restaurants Mid-Atlantic Division.  Service types include mainline distribution, produce, grease trap pumping, hood cleaning, pest control, beverage, and chemicals.

  • Reviews and negotiates contracts related to Service Vendors providing services to a large group of restaurants
  • Acts as point of contact for escalation after Operations Leadership
  • Submits for bids and reviews results to submit determination on vendors
  • Partners with CSCS regarding on Service Vendor changes
  • Monitors to ensure services are performed within contracted timelines

Operations & Reporting:

  • Builds reporting solutions which allows the Operations Team to have the data needed to better understand their business. Reports include, but are not limited to:  Daily Sales Flash, P&L Report, Declining Budget, Scheduling Status, etc.
  • Partner with Operations Task Forces to help provide solutions

Experience & Education:

  • College Degree Preferred
  • Project Management Experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of Network Infrastructure and System Administration Preferred
  • Background in Technology Related Area Preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word Required
  • Strong Communications, Organizational and Analytical Skills
