Construction Project Estimator


Provide estimating and scheduling services for infrastructure, construction and renovation projects by reviewing and evaluating designs, specifications, and cost and feasibility estimates for proposed projects. Organize and compile estimates using estimating software. Track and evaluate project costs versus estimated costs. Communicate cost and schedule issues with designers, customers, and other divisions within Engineering and Operations.

Other duties may be assigned.
Review and evaluate project documents (i.e. service requests, plans, specifications, etc.) to ascertain costs and potential timeframe durations.
Meet with internal and external designers, consultants and contractors to establish and review estimates, entering data into an estimating software program, compiling estimates from historical data, involved trades, and confirming vendor verification of service/materials to be purchased.
Track the accuracy of work order estimates by comparison with the estimate breakdown.
Provide feedback to the Project Coordinators and Manager on orders that vary significantly from the original estimate.
Compile an estimating database consisting of labor rates, materials costs, type of construction, etc. for the estimating software program; maintain in a current cost mode in order to keep estimates as accurate as possible.
Prepare project schedules utilizing project specifications, labor projections, work sequence, predecessor activities, and quality standards to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.

Work requires an Associate's degree in Drafting, Architecture, Design or a related field to develop appropriate technical skills and analytical abilities.


Work requires five years of progressively responsible experience in drafting, architecture, design and/or project management to include job estimating and project programming. A Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Design may offset two years of required experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
