Position Description

The purpose of this role is to lead and direct the materials function for a highly engineered product in a value stream environment. 
 
Essential Responsibilities: 
  • Provide long-term planning to support plant objectives for on-time delivery. 
  • Effectively manage the materials organization to meet enterprise inventory, OTD, and lead time targets.    
  • Responsible for creating and managing a high performance materials team (Master Scheduler, Warehouse Supervisor/Team and Planning, Expeditor and Buyers for each Value Stream.  
  • Establish team goals and action plans to achieve department objectives in alignment with site and enterprise objectives. 
  • Direct the activities of shipping, warehousing, receiving and support value stream leaders to ensure appropriate training and development of personnel to meet operational needs. 
  • Plan and Execute through Long, Medium, and Short term planning cycles against requirement dates. 
  • Develop and maintain the facilities material forecast at item master level.  
  • Develop business processes within plant ERP and help drive master data governance.  
  • Create/implement/maintain an inventory controls program (e.g. cycle counting) and warehousing management strategy. 
  • Focus on master data attributes and master production schedule accuracy. 
  • Support Value Stream leadership to implement processes to ensure accuracy of inventory transactions throughout the operation.  
  • Work with the organization on improving the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process. 
  • Must maintain strong training skills and desire to develop systems approach, good problem solving and action planning skills. 
  • Provide overall management strategy and develop robust systems for plant inventory levels including WIP and finished goods to meet inventory goals and support demand requirements.  
  • Support and encourage a lean culture.

Position Requirements
  • B.S. Degree, preferably in Materials Management,  Supply Chain, Engineering or Business Management 
  • Six Sigma Certified, preferred 
  • APICS Certification, preferred 
  • Experience in Supply chain, procurement, production controls or similar field, preferred 
  • Experience with demand planning and/or supply planning as it relates to S&OP is a plus 
  • Experience with an ERP/MRP system required. 
  • Hands on experience with SAP is preferred
