Family Services Coordinator

Family services coordinators build and maintain the pipeline of homeowner families by recruiting and educating qualified families for both homeownership and home repair opportunities. As a family services coordinator, you will recruit homeowner family applicants and serve as their point of contact as they go through the application and sweat-equity process  . You will work with a committee to select homeowner families for a variety of housing products, including new home construction, repair or rehab of existing homes, and weatherization projects. You will organize and provide educational opportunities to homeowner families and may also conduct application orientations, assist families in application completion, and build alongside families.   

Required Qualifications: 

• 18 years of age or older
• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
• High school diploma or GED equivalent (or agree to work towards one while serving)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet host site’s insurance requirements

Helpful Qualifications:

• Knowledge of, and willingness to promote, the mission and activities of Habitat for Humanity International and AmeriCorps
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong research skills
• Detail oriented and highly organized
• Experience working with volunteers, teaching or group facilitation
• Experience working as a member of a team
• Public speaking experience
• Knowledge of community development practices
• Marketing experience

Benefits of Service:

• Living allowance minimum of $15,570 for a full 46½ weeks of service
• Segal Education Award of $6,095 (upon successful completion of service) – lifetime maximum of 2

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County provides members a $300/month housing subsidy for first year members and a $600/month housing subsidy for second year members. They also provide a $100 stipend for tool and work site gear

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County has partnered with this community for more than 30 years and has hosted AmeriCorps members since 2001. We currently have 12 AmeriCorps alumni on staff, as we truly recognize the value and impact of serving. Our organization is regarded as a leader in developing new programs such as the Home Builders Blitz and piloting Habitat for Humanity International programs such as the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. We currently have eight ReStores scattered throughout Wake, Johnston, and Durham County, with the goal of opening a 9th store in FY19-20. In addition to serving 100 families via homeownership and home preservation projects in FY19, we will also support global families in Honduras, Malawi and Cambodia. The Raleigh area is the perfect blend of urban and rural. We are home to several colleges including NC State University, as well as an ever changing downtown landscape with all the amenities you'd expect in a modern city.
