MedThink SciCom is on the lookout for enthusiastic, take-charge individuals for our Scientific Services Intern position. It’s a great way to dive into the world of healthcare communications and really make a difference. The Intern supports the Scientific Services team by executing a select set of projects.  This position will learn all of the elements that are a part of what a medical writer does and would also learn how to interact with the different agency functions in order to gain alignment. The Intern will also gain a significant understanding into the approach to project completion. Although content development may be familiar, the Intern will learn a critical skill – how to work within a team dynamic.

Position Requirements

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:

Overall:

  • The Intern will work on projects that add overall value to the organization
    • Past examples of projects interns have completed include building slide decks of examples of deidentified work to demonstrate MTSC’s prior work in disease state education, publication planning, non-traditional audits, gap analyses, etc. Another example is building congress/journals grids with relevant information on oncology, rheumatology, dermatology, neurology(epilepsy), and managed care 
  • Participate in client and team meetings and trainings
    • Learn the process of working within a team dynamic
  • Assist with project-related requests that would provide an understanding of content development in an agency setting
  • Gain exposure to the life of a medical writer through interaction with other members of the scientific services team and the larger agency

 

Experience:

  • Previous agency internship or related experience ideal
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • High academic achievement

Availability:

  • Must be available at least 20 hours per week

Talent & Knack

The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or other Life Sciences (required)
  • Completed a PhD or within a few months of defending your dissertation. Postdoctoral fellows are welcome to apply
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to take direction and execute
  • Friendly and service-oriented
  • Strong proficiency in informational searches
  • Ability to manage numerous projects, requests, and responsibilities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Passion for discovery
