Job Description

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides supervision to staff through role modeling and coaching the techniques and practices of Recovery, support and self-help.
  2. Assists in the coordination and supervision of Team Members which includes but are not limited to:
  1. Hiring process to include interviewing applicants and make hiring recommendations.
  2. Provides unit orientation and training of Team Members.
  3. Supervises activities of staff including assignment of duties and tasks.
  4. Assures that all paperwork is completed by the end of the shift.
  5. Influences decisions on appropriate disciplinary actions when needed and recommends corrective action.

3.  Works in collaboration with the Shift Supervisor to develop and support Peer Recovery Coaches on the job development and role on Retreat.

4.  Attends monthly Supervisor Meetings in order to:

a) Participate in the development of Program Protocols and Procedures incorporating a Team Lead prospective.

b) Develop and support the program management team, analyzing problems, identifying areas of unmet needs, and seeking solutions.

5.  Provides a welcoming environment for Guests on Retreat using the Recovery Coaching model.

6.  Provides basic recovery support services in partnership with Peer Support Specialists and other team members, either in the community or in the facility and documents services provided using recovery language.

7.  Assists in completing admissions to the facility including:

  1. Ensures Orientation to the program including an introduction to staff, a tour of the facility, guest rights and grievances program is being provided. schedule and community agreements.
  2. Ensures guests are being assisted with a shower and clean up using proper infection control procedures.
  3.  Ensures personal property is being inventoried properly.
  4. Ensures the admission workflow is being followed as well as triage protocol and decision making tree for acuity on retreat.

8.  Partners with each Guest to maintain a recovery environment by performing tasks including but not limited to

  1. Room checks, making sure beds are made and rooms are clean
  2. Removes any hazardous objects and records findings as designated
  3. Helps guests manage any risky behavior and completes required documentation.
  4. Implements contraband policy

 9.  In a facility based program

  1. Assists guests during mealtimes and helps with special diet requirements.
  2. Provides basic care under direction of RN following a plan of care ie: vital signs, assists and/or collection of lab specimens.     

10.  Conducts Community Groups, Guiding Principles Phases I and II, and Activity and/or Life Skill groups as designated by the program’s schedule.

11.  Ensures that supplies are inventoried and ordered. Maintains and uses technical equipment needed to perform the duties of the job.

         

Documentation

  1. Documents relevant and required information and services provided in the identified service record (electronic or otherwise) assuring continuity of care as a tool for communication with other team members.
  2. Maintains and observe all HIPAA regulations that apply.
  3. Provides timely, quality and accurate documentation in accordance with program standards.

  1. Provide a safe recovery environment. Utilizes infection control and other safety standards. Contributes to the cleanliness of the work place.
  2. Utilizes effective positive engagement and conflict resolution skills.
  3. Fosters personal and environmental wellness by taking care of self and maintaining environmental wellness by reporting infection and on the job injuries. Assesses emergency situations, notifies supervisor of actual or potential challenges, exercises judgment in stressful conditions and responds calmly and quickly. Displays teamwork during emergencies.

  5. Uses problem solving methods and critical thinking to continuously improve operations.

 Education & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred or relevant experience (employed with RI International for at least 1 year)
  2. Successfully completed Peer Employment Training Course and/or NC State Peer Certification.
  3. Current or past recipient of mental health services

 

Additional Requirements, Certifications and Qualifications

  1. Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
  2. Annual completion of CPI Training
  3. Completion of HIV/Aids Training Certification
  4. Completion of First Aid Certification
  1. May be required to pass pre-placement physical
  2. Must have TB test clearance
  3. Will be required to pass the North Carolina Background Check
  4. Food handler’s card

 

Driving required

  1. Must possess a valid NC Drivers license, must be at least 25 years of age to operate company vehicle or 21 years of age to operate personally owned vehicle on company business;
  2. Must meet the requirements in the Agency’s Driver Policy.

Working Conditions

Works in general office environment and behavioral health clinical areas. Some risk involved in the event people being served have challenges with control which is mitigated by team training in verbal de-escalation skills. Schedule may include long hours and travel throughout geographic region.

  1. The physical requirements described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. Continuous standing; walking; handling; finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination; use of corrected vision; depth perception; wide field of vision; color vision; use of auditory, olfactory and tactile senses. Frequent bending over; stooping, kneeling; crouching; pushing; pulling; sitting; reaching; climbing/balancing on a step stool to reach supplies/equipment in cabinets; climbing stairs; carrying up to 25 pounds. Occasional crawling; running; pushing up to 250 pounds; pulling up to 250 pounds; lifting up to 50 pounds.
