This Health Care Technician I position provides direct care to developmentally disabled individuals to enhance their quality of life, offer choices, and support individuality. Assistance with personal care, home living, social opportunities, leisure choices and safety. Assisting nurses to maintain health/promote healing of individuals that require 24 hour nursing services by performing CNA I duties.
 

Salary Grade: GN04
Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 - $38,000.00

Work Hours: 1st, 2nd and 3rd

A valid NC driver's license;
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff and other;
Ability to maintain profession and even-tempered demeanor and work relationships;
Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques;
Ability to communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and verbal form.

Management Preference:
One year experience working directly with individuals that are developmentally disables.
Must have a CNA I License in good standing.

Physical Requirements:
 
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily) and be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature.
 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As required by the Department of Public Safety, must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Counsel. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
