Description of Work

"This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events."

The primary purpose of this position is to assure primary medical care is provided for the residents at O'Berry Center. This Physician position works with three (3) other Physicians at the center. The physician will have his/her own patient case load which includes evaluation, diagnosis treatment and accurate documentation. Work hours are usually eight (8) hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with on-call rotation with the other three (3) Physicians for weekend coverage . Physicians work with an interdisciplinary team for complete healthcare delivery for all patients. Opportunities for continued medical education are available.

About O'Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center:

O'Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (OBNMTC) is one of the three state operated skilled nursing facilities for individuals with co-existing medical and neuro-cognitive disorders.  O'Berry Center serves approximately 180 residents from 65 counties in the eastern and south central regions of North Carolina.  Operating 24 hours per day/7-days per week, O'Berry Center currently has 180 beds (96 in Long Term Care and 84 in ICF/IID). 
O'Berry NMT Center is just 45 minutes to an hour from Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina, which you can attend the multitude of cultural and sporting events. From Goldsboro, you can take a day trip to the scenic coast of the Carolina Beaches. Our facility sits on 67 acres of land in Wayne County.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
*Knowledge of ICF/IID and OBRA regulations.
*Knowledge of dispensation of medical care in a primary care environment.
*Skill in treating and diagnosing a variety of diseases and injuries.
*Ability to assess and interpret laboratory results, clinical data and information relative to patient condition.
*Ability to compile clear and concise notes for patient charts.
*Knowledge of suturing.
*Abilities to work as an effective team member.
*Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, patients, families and the general public.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina.
