Cherry Hospital is recruiting for permanent full-time Psychologist positions.  Our 24 hour in-patient facility serves adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The position provides direct service to patients through assessments, psychological testing, individual and group psychotherapy as well as creation and management of individualized behavior plans.  This position also serves on special project committees as assigned by the supervisor/Psychology Director and supervises graduate psychology students as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following: 

  • Requires broad-based knowledge of psychological theory and its applications in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. 
  • Thorough knowledge of core areas of normal and abnormal psychology including motivation, development, learning and psychotherapy.
  •  Skill in provision of comprehensive psychological evaluations using objective and projective measures is essential, as well as providing a wide array of therapeutic interventions for patients with major emotional and behavioral disturbances.
 **As a condition for continued employment:  must successfully pass all required parts of CPI's Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Course. 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270).

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
