Staff psychiatrists serve as team leaders for multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and treatment. In addition to the evaluation of patients upon admission, this position is responsible for providing inpatient psychiatric care which includes consultations, preparing written psychiatric assessments including treatment plans as well as administrative recommendations, chronic medication management, psychotropic drug reviews, provides consultation with medical staff as needed, and providing appropriate coordination and continuation of the care for residents in adherence to state and federal guidelines. 
This opportunity offers a full-time work schedule, Monday – Friday (8 am until 5 pm) with a light call schedule.

Salary Grade MG15                Recruitment Range:  $230,000-$281,799

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of inpatient psychiatry
  • Knowledge of the theories and general practices of medicine; thorough knowledge of biological, social, and psychological developmental processes at all ages; a sound identity with and training in medicine and psychiatry; and demonstrated clinical abilities.
  • Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team and integrate care is essential Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency (or anticipated completion before job commencement).
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to adult patients, as credentialed by the Medical Staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (including legibility) are essential.
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate or learn proficiency with electronic medical record.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
