The Product Owner is a member of a highly collaborative product development team which develops new software functionality for customers. The Product Owner will be tasked with leading the development effort by communicating the vision to the team, outlining and prioritizing the work in the backlog, and communicating progress, road blocks, and overall project value to internal and external stakeholders.

The Product Owner should be able to clearly communicate the project vision at the beginning of every release so that the team understands and is equipped to deliver. They will fulfill all of the project management responsibilities, including removing impediments for the development team, facilitating team meetings, researching/triaging defects and feature requests assigned to the team, and enforcing the overall scrum process. The Product Owner should have clear communications skills, as a necessary job requirement is communicating status outside of your team

Principal Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the scrum process, including:
    • Run daily stand-up meetings
    • Coordinate and lead product review meetings
    • Lead retrospective meetings
    • Prepare and lead user story prep meetings
    • Facilitate the estimation of user stories
    • Track Velocity, Team Burndown Charts
  • Ensure a maintained and prioritized backlog of user stories
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input throughout the creative process for the work of your teammates
  • Conceptualize new and improved user interfaces
  • Present complex sets of data in ways that are easy to comprehend
  • Present at internal and external conferences
  • Support Sales and other stakeholders as needed with the new feature functionality
  • Prioritize and Triage Feature Requests and Defects that get assigned to the team
  • Documentation and other release activities for the current release

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge of scrum process and best practices
  • Ability to translate high-level customer requirements into epics and user stories
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with past successes in working across organizations to implement large-scale projects
  • Exceptional customer focus. Client-focused attitude – a customer advocate
  • Good presentation skills for communication with internal and external customers
  • Strong written documentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance multiple ongoing responsibilities and appropriately communicate issues a must
  • Experience with Java-based web applications preferred
  • At least 5 years experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent preferred
  • Travel 10-20%
