    SSS is currently seeking an Epidemiologist to serve on a multi-disciplinary team that conducts analyses and reports on findings from clinical- and population-based epidemiological studies on behalf of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and other federal agencies. We currently support numerous large-scale epidemiologic studies, such as the Gulf Long-term Follow-up Study, Sister Study, and Agricultural Health Study. We also lead the development of landmark research compendia and associated manuscripts on major metabolic, digestive, and urologic diseases. You will be part of a collegial team that includes other epidemiologists, statisticians, data managers and programmers, and operations staff. Epidemiologists play a critical role in study design, implementation, analysis, and manuscript development.     Responsibilities

    ·Collaborate with colleagues and clients on matters related to the design, implementation, and management of epidemiologic studies

    ·Plan and conduct standard and advanced epidemiologic and statistical analyses with minimal guidance

    ·Prepare oral and written scientific communications, including scientific presentations, manuscripts, technical reports, and methods sections of proposals

    ·Provide guidance to the data and statistical programming staff and junior analysts

    ·Perform additional duties as required

    Qualifications

    Doctoral degree in epidemiology or related field (or Masters degree with at least 5 years of experience. Must have experience in the design and execution of epidemiologic research, including advanced statistical analysis, and in publishing research results, with a strong career appropriate record of peer reviewed publications. Experience using administrative claims data to conduct epidemiologic research, as well as demonstrated success across a range of research topics, is highly desired. Requires proficiency in at least one statistical software such as SAS or R, as well as excellent oral and written communication, and organizational skills. Able to work well in team environment and independently, and to learn new skills as needed.
