Description

Be part of an innovative team that is developing and bringing the best of technologies from private industry to municipal government.  This is what we're doing at the Town of Cary, and we're looking for a qualified Integration Developer to join our team and work with us to deliver solutions that increase efficiencies and enable our staff to provide the best services for our citizens.  As the Integration Developer, you will be working with a wide range of business units to assess needs and develop applications and integrations using a variety of platforms to enhance service delivery.  We seek high performing candidates who are ready to engage in problem solving, have the technical skills to deliver, and want to make a difference in their community.

The Integration Developer will be responsible for building integrations to other enterprise applications using Application Program Interfaces (APIs), web services and middleware technologies such as Dell Boomi.  The position is part of the Town's award-winning Information Technology team and will have a strong focus on IoT initiatives.  Position reports to the Chief Information Officer.
 

Typical Tasks

  • Assists data stewards with cleanup of data;
  • Performs ETL tasks;
  • Defines and implements data standards based on our platform and data architectures.  Our major platforms include:
    • Salesforce
    • Salesforce Marketing Cloud
    • Esri
    • Box
    • SharePoint
    • SAS
  • Collaborates with departments to assess and determine integration needs;
  • Builds integrations to address business needs that will facilitate data sharing and efficient work flows;
  • Coordinates User Acceptance Testing to ensure integrations meet the needs of the organization and that data integrity is maintained;
  • Documents integrations with the purpose of handing off maintenance to help desk, server teams and business data stewards;
  • Works with Town staff to create and manage complex workflow rules, data validation, and triggers;
  • Understands and identifies business processes and opportunities for technology value creation;
  • Participates in a self-directed team environment;
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required.

  • Thorough knowledge of the organization's technical environments and supported applications
  • Thorough knowledge of the organization's technology standards, guidelines, and processes
  • Strong knowledge of the Information Technology industry standards and trends as applicable to municipal government
  • Thorough knowledge of Information Security, audit, and regulatory guidelines
  • Knowledge of Data Management concepts
  • Possesses advanced problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated relationship-building and communication skills.  Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to inspire confidence and momentum at all levels is a MUST!

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Requires any combination of experience and education equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field and at least four years of experience with:

  • ETL tools such as SAS Data Integration Studio
  • web-based integration platforms such as Dell Boomi
  • web programming languages and tools such as: JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), Python, Hypertext Markup Language/Cascading Style Sheets (HTML/CSS), Representational State Transfer (REST), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
  • Requires demonstrated experience with relational database design and queries using Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Requires experience in all phases of agile software development life cycle methodologies and processes
  • Requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
PREFERS:
  • Advanced Salesforce.com Developer certification
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience with industry standard source controls such as: Git, Apache Subversion (SVN) and deployment strategies (e.g., Force.com Migration tool)
