Embedded Software Engineer 1st Shift

This position is accountable for the development and release of embedded software that is utilized in TriMark’s electronic products that support our various markets/accounts that align with TriMark’s product line plan for the corporation. The position recommends best practices related to software for said electrical/electronic markets to assist in the development of the product line plan. The incumbent is a contributor to R&D efforts of electrical/electronic products for the company, participating in planning, developing, and coordinating major electrical/electronic products to optimize manufacturability, quality, cost-effectiveness, and product performance with respect to customer satisfaction. This position also provides ongoing production support as necessary to the workgroups and Product Management for electrical/electronic products. Ongoing product support includes application support for the market team managers and sales representatives, web, manufacturing, customer quality and supplier quality support.

This position reports to the Technical Program Manager-Mechatronics, as does the Project Engineer and Electrical Technician.
The incumbent must perform complicated engineering work exercising independent judgement and action, apply research principles and techniques to the design and development or testing of electronic systems, equipment, products or facilities.
The incumbent will possess knowledge of and have experience with advanced security systems for commercial vehicles. Daily activities will include working with SAE J1939 systems on vehicles, as well as RF and Passive Keyless Entry Systems. Understanding of Bluetooth and WiFi will be beneficial for future systems.
The incumbent completes project deliverables in a timely and cost-efficient manner to fulfill customer and/or TriMark product development goals. The incumbent performs electrical engineering analysis to support existing products and develop new concepts to improve functionality, reduce costs, increase performance, and simplify manufacturability of resulting products.
The position will work with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) developers, PCB Manufactures, and software consultants to bring world class electronics to the market.
The position will have knowledge of embedded firmware and an advanced understanding of software validation for complex electronic systems. Knowledge and experience with Java, C++ is helpful. Experience writing code in C is a requirement. The incumbent will possess knowledge of compiling software and use of debugging tools. Prior experience with Mercurial is beneficial.
The position will contribute to planning the development and introduction of new products; and with the identification of these opportunities, develops new product project plans. This position will contribute with providing budgetary input for R&D and product development efforts. The position coordinates with test engineers to validate software.
As team contributor, the incumbent is to ensure that appropriate project deliverables are completed to the standards prescribed by TriMark’s product development process as well as fulfilling the requirements of our quality system.

The incumbent will possess knowledge of the tools necessary to follow Advanced Product Quality Planning guidelines and have the ability to work with a team of engineers in the development of a Design Verification Plan and Report spread sheet for an electronic system that resides in a commercial vehicle.
The incumbent provides assistance to the workgroups, Product Management, and S&R group as necessary for ongoing production support for electrical/electronic products.
A requirement of this position is the ability to interact with individuals throughout the company. Therefore, the incumbent must possess excellent communication skills, including both written and oral.
The incumbent must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables. This is to also include the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
The incumbent must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times to promote good working relationships among supervisors, peers, and if applicable, direct reports and indirect reports.
Develops software for electrical/electronic products that meets project specifications and goals.
Works closely with Test Engineering to validate software and ensure that customer requirements are met.
Identifies opportunities for improving software for electrical/electronic products.
Develops specifications and approves the application and interface of electrical/electronic technology with mechanical hardware to ensure compatibility with new and existing TriMark products.
Contributes to development procedures, engineering concepts, testing and timing of each project.Calls meetings with project personnel and others as necessary to ensure the software is complete in a timely manner in conjunction with project milestones.
Works effectively with existing and potential customers, attends trade shows as required to obtain or provide input concerning new products related to software.
Monitors and strives for continuous improvement in the new product development processes.
This position contributes to the project team to ensure customer requirements for the project such as DFMEA’s, DVP&R’s, APQP’s, ISIR’s, PPAP’s, etc. are met.
This position is responsible for providing assistance as needed for the workgroups, Product Management, and S&R for electrical/electronic product production and sales support.
Responsible to perform his or her job functions in a manner that supports TriMark's mission, vision and values in order for the company to attain its strategic and growth goals.
The office area is air-conditioned and working conditions are excellent. The noise level is 50 to 80 dB. Normal or corrected vision with no color deficiency, normal depth perception and peripheral vision of 180 degrees is required. Safety glasses are required whenever office personnel are in the plant production area. Hearing protection is not required but its use is encouraged in areas designated as high-noise areas for more than brief visits by office personnel
